Microwave Massacre is trash and it knows it, but knowing it isn't quite enough to save it. Jackie Vernon's deadpan delivery gets a few real laughs out of a script that has no interest in scaring anyone and leans entirely on gross-out gags and bad puns about eating people. The gore is unconvincing, the pacing drags in the middle stretch, and the gratuitous nudity feels more like padding than commitment to a bit. There's a specific charm here if you're already deep into 80s video store sleaze, but it's a curiosity more than a recommendation.
Synopsis
Donald is a construction worker whose wife May has decided that cooking gourmet food, badly, is the key to seeming classier than they actually are. After one argument too many, he kills her with a pepper grinder and, having tasted human flesh by accident, discovers he likes it. Jackie Vernon, best known as the voice of Frosty the Snowman, plays Donald with a deadpan comic delivery that's doing most of the film's heavy lifting, and the low-budget 80s sleaze aesthetic is fully intentional. It's cheap, it's dumb, and it knows exactly what it is.
